Job description

As a senior Db2 systems programmer, you will have the opportunity to install and maintain Db2 systems software in our growing enterprise mainframe environment. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work with and install software from industry-leading Db2 software tool vendors, while working with a highly experienced Db2 systems programming team.

Responsibilities:

  • Participating in installation, packaging, and implementation of Db2 for z/OS software, Db2 for z/OS Replication software, as well as Db2 Administration and monitoring software.

  • Providing troubleshooting complex problems and providing resolution for all Db2 software product issues.

  • Assisting in Db2 subsystem design and integration with other mainframe and midrange software.

  • Serving as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource; provides technical knowledge and capabilities as a team member and individual contributor.

  • Leading technical projects including coordination of efforts outside the Db2 systems programming team.

  • Learning and understanding mainframe disaster recovery procedures to provide expert assistance in the event of a data center disaster.

Required Job Skills:

  • 7-10 years of experience in Information Technology

  • Experience in SMP/E, Db2 for z/OS V11+, Db2 for z/OS Data Sharing, Db2 for z/OS Performance and Tuning, Db2 for z/OS Disaster Recovery

  • Ability to work in an on-call, 24x7 environment.

Desired Job Skills

  • Db2 Data Replication including IIDR (Q Replication, CDC, and DPropR)

  • Db2 Connect Universal Edition and associated distributed connection methods

  • BMC Mainview for Db2, Apptune for Db2, and other BMC tools

  • ACF2/RACF security system knowledge as relates to Db2

  • Leads and/or participates in the design, development, and implementation of complex system engineering activities involving cross-functional technical support, systems programming, and data center capabilities.

  • Responsible for components of highly complex engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities.

  • Establishes input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility, coordination of subsystems design, and integration of the total system.

  • Viewed as a technology subject matter expert; able to provide and communicate complex technology solutions across differing audiences including technical, managerial, business executives, and/or vendors.

  • Will have responsibility for multiple, complex projects; will direct activities of teams related to special initiatives or operations, and may have direct reports.

  • Leads the resolution process for complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.

  • Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

  • Information Technology degree and/or technology certifications preferred or substantial equivalent experience.

  • Typically 7-10 years of IT experience.
