Business Systems Analyst II, International IT

The Business System Analyst (BSA) within the International IT group will work on multiple projects simultaneously at a high level of efficiency and quality in a timely manner. The BSA is responsible for the analysis, design and development of the necessary requirements to support system development and implementation for all technology needs within the International IT group. Working with the Director, International IT, the BSA manages and coordinates these activities from beginning to end through the use of agile best practices focused on strategic/analytical assessment, requirements gathering, iteration identification, problem solving and project management.
The BSA must possess subject matter expertise in both the retail business and related technologies. The position requires the ability to understand various business domains across multiple countries, and be able to correlate complementary requirements and use cases so they can easily be executed by various teams.
Attention to detail, good analytical and problem solving skills and critical thinking are essential. In addition, being a self-starter/motivator, having a proactive, agile and strategic mindset is a must.
Responsibilities:
Analysis & Design
Demonstrates aptitude in logical and analytical thinking, as well as strong problem solving skills
Excellent skills in developing use case models, system objectives, interface requirements, integrity requirements, as well as performance and operational requirements
Develops and maintains an intimate understanding of business operations
Demonstrates sound business sense and ability to see “the big picture”
Understands how to use technology as a competitive advantage and to solve business problems
Works collaboratively with IT and the business to provide project estimates for cost-benefit analysis
Identifies opportunities for operational efficiency through automation and core system utilization
Able to pay attention to detail, but not get bogged down by it (and prevent others from doing the same) in order to maintain agility and rapidly move the agenda forward
Leadership
Directs/leads requirements gathering sessions with end users at all levels (VP, Director, Managers, Individual Contributors) Ability to influence and direct both business and IT resources on the right direction and approachProactively works with the business to determine fulfillment options and ensure alignment, understanding and confidence
Challenges the business to ensure the team is working on the right things based on empirical information (ROI, LOE, Compliance, etc.)
Maintains transparent visibility of requirements, issues, direction, decisions, etc., establishing themselves as a trusted advisor to the business
Ensures both business stakeholders and IT team members are all aligned with project objectives and identified agile practices
Project Management
Defines iterations/objectives and executes according to agile best practices and IT process standards
Able to identify opportunities to modify and improve the execution process in order to quickly meet business objectives
Assesses project resourcing needs and works with the PM and Resource Managers to staff appropriately
Helps coordinate the development of necessary project documentation and standards required for compliance and identified agile best practices
Ability to multi-task across multiple projects
Able to embrace and adapt to change, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to develop and follow new processes
Escalates and works with PM to address issues with business and IT resource commitment/dedication
Communication
Demonstrates strong oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with business partners and internal team members
Demonstrates strong written communications skills, including the ability to produce clear and concise recommendations, business requirements and/or use cases
Communicates technical issues to non-technical people
Negotiates and resolves conflicts between the business and IT
Interacts with all levels of the company with patience, courtesy, diplomacy and professionalism
Maintains a positive outlook with an optimistic and professional attitude at all times
Develops process flow charts as required to support use case/business requirements understanding
Keeps project managers, team members and business stakeholders informed of critical issues, project status, changes, etc.
Qualification(s)
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field required. (4 additional years of comparable work experience beyond the required yrs of experience may be substituted)
Five or more years’ experience in developing requirements and performing system analysis
Three or more years’ experience of major systems implementation experience
Familiarity with all Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Access
A minimum of 2 years working familiarity with at least one leading Point-of-Sale solution used within the retail/restaurant industry
Ability to travel both domestic & International up-to 50%, depending on business needs
Experience in retail payment processing and knowledge of the       Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS)
Knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solutions and how they fit within a business enterprise
Entry level knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, installing, maintaining, and patching applications
International Restaurant/Hospitality/ Retail industry experience (a big plus)
Development Management experience a plus including version and source-code control of project documentation
